The book was great. The movie was pretty much a lie to me. I suggest everyone reads the book. I didn't like how the movie made "It" in to a clown. I mean at some point in the book he was a clown but that's not all It was. It was their fears. Everyone saw something different.

My favorite SK book ever. I ran across the tv movie awhile back and couldn't get past the hair! Did we all have hair like that in the 80s/90s?

I read this book a few years ago and found parts of the book very scary. I certainly never looked at clowns the same. The ending was disappointing; I felt the author was looking for a quick way to wrap things up. Nevertheless, I would recommend the book for a good scare.

If you are a Stephen King fan, this is a "must read". I read the book many years ago and I can still remember how I enjoyed it.

I've heard this is a good book, haven't had the chance to read it though.

I'm a huge Stephen King fan (I agree with Moparguy!), and I loved "It". One of my favorite aspects of the book is how he seems to find so many different ways to scare us...including my #1 recurring nightmare as a teen--being trapped in a house that continues to expand as you try to escape.

I read this just after I had graduated college, when I was living in a house near the campus with two friends from college, and I made the mistake one night of reading it when I was alone in the house. Not sure I slept much that night!!!!

My dislike of clowns grew exponentially after I read this - I loved the story but it still creeped me out.............

Never read the book though I'm sure it's just as petrifying if not more. I watched that movie and it ruined clowns for me forever. I can't even walk into the spare bedroom in my grandmothers house without feeling anxious because she has a small collection of porcelain clowns.

Clowns are evil. I always knew that. Pennywise proved it.

Ah, It. I read this book when I was still a young and impressionable girl.

I had recurring nightmares for two weeks afterwards.

And a phobia about clowns. I shiver when I see them.

Another good one by Stephen King! Once again, I'm not really a fan but this one is good horror! A little background.. it may be a twisted idea, but one of my favorite things about horror in general is that theoretically it always has a happy ending. After all the blood, gore and terror the people usually catch the monster or everything ends up all right. This book is perfectly not on that line. We are left with the knowledge that the world will always have it's monsters and children will have to battle them daily. The book was scary enough when I read it that I put it away for good. The movie on the other hand reminded me of a horror version of Stand By Me. Loved it.
