Chow Li, a rival immortal, cannot kill Chang Sou himself because of his Buddhist principals and thus relies on Steven to rid the world of the evil Chang Sou. These differing cultural stances make the reader question character motives as well as the premise of immortality.

This is an interesting question the reviewer discovered. I am sure I will read this book. I want to see if a further dilemma is addressed. Is it correct for a pacifist to use a surrogate to fight battles that are immoral for the pacifist to fight?

This sounds like a first rate historical fantasy. I'm really looking forward to reading it. Thanks for the informative review. Great job!

Thanks for your review; after reading a sample I believe it may be a bit too graphic for my taste. It was interesting to read what you thought and the twists that the book takes.

A really great and well written review. I would definitely like to know whether he took the pills or not.
Congratulations to the author for getting such a great review. :)

I enjoy historical fantasy but I suppose it depends on the time frame of the novel. Not sure if I'd like this one or not.

Thanks for the great review. It is superbly incredible novel from the start. I feel like not finishing to read the next chapter after reading the first because I don't want to spoil the trend of that action packed, and emotionally loaded chapter which turned out only as the beginning of the story. Congratulations for BOTD.

Sounds like a good book! Congrats on the balanced review. I'm definitely fascinated by a story about immortality. Nice to learn about a blend of cultures as well.

Thank you for the insightful review. I probably would not have been interested in this book after reading the sample. But your review makes the book worth reading after all..

this book seems amazing! The author David J.Castello gets the immediate attention of the reader with the first word of this book.(spoiler)Death.Ironic since the title of the book is Immortal. It is very well written. During my reading I could picture very well what was happening without getting confused. This is a very important aspect in my opinion. In conclusion, this book seems very good. If I could find a library that sells it I'd buy It for sure.

I agree with you that the cultural difference between Buddhist and mainstream American cultures creates a very interesting dichotomy. It redefines good and evil, since for some, killing at all is bad while for other, killing an evil-doer may be good if it prevents other deaths.

Such a well-written and insightful review. I am not a fan of the fantasy genre so I do not believe this book is for me. However, this book seems to have many great qualities for a fan of this particular genre.

Thanks for the review. I like when the author really gets involved with the story. I personally don't like this type of genre, but it does sound very interesting for those who do.

Hm, I'm not sure how I feel about the Buddhists being represented as antagonists, especially when non-Christian religions already get so little representation in literature. But I do appreciate the review, MarisaRose! Very well written.
