Thank you for such a great review! It has been a long time since I read a book with dragons as a main part of the story. I used to love fantasy but have not read that genre in a long time. This book looks very interesting and I am glad to be introduced to this author and her book. Amanda

Great review. This sounds like an interesting book. I'm not usually into Sci-Fi, but I think I may read this one. :)

This sounds like a really interesting novel. I'm especially intrigued by the fact that the author has extensive background in history etc...so she can apply that knowledge to this fantasy world effectively and convincingly.

Thank you for your observations.

A great review! This sounds like such a great read - dragons, magical creatures, and magic with many twists! I love that there is a mix of genres, as well. Congratulations to the author for receiving such a glowing review!

This well-written review makes me look forward to reading the entire book. The author's background, history and anthropology (so is mine!) gives her an excellent foundation for her writing, the descriptions of places and persons.

J.A. Cummings is a historian and anthropologist? Those are two traits that could create a wonderfully detailed fantasy novel.

I already read the prologue, and the omens that occur make a good introduction. Your review detailed some things that I will be looking out for. Thanks!

Thanks for the thorough review. It sounds as if the author has both a gift for world-making and the craftsmanship to do so well. I'm intrigued by her play on the word lodestone/loadstone, and how that plays into the plot.

I like how the reviewer pointed out that the author portrays Pendar "very young to be dealing with such hardships".
The remainder of the review provides a vivid sketch to tantalize would be readers of magical tales.

Always looking for a new sci-fi book with good content. With SO much sci-fi/fantasy writers, it's hard to filter out the gems. This sounds intriguing and unique.

The Four Powers by J. A. Cummings is a novel focused on the great powers of the Loadstone. The Loadstone was created many years ago by the gods and split to maintain equal power corresponding to the four elements air, fire, water, and earth. Each piece was placed in a tower with an immortal Guardian to represent each cardinal direction. After the completion of the towers, tribes formed great cities around them to aid in their protection. Pedar Toloris is the second son of the Great Chieftain of the Water Tribe and self-made dragon expert. The Water tribe is in a constant feud with the dragons.
The reviewer gave us a very detailed review which influenced my decision to read the book. The sample by itself can be very confusing with much information about the construction and many divisions of a fantasy world. The reviewer clarified the sample.
