Toby Daye discussion thread ~spoilers~
It's fair to say that this could well be my very favorite series. If I have one which I don't.
I love Toby
I love Tybalt
I love May
I couldn't pick a favorite book if I tried!
I want someone...anyone...to discuss theories with.
I want to squee with people when the next book is coming out!
I want to know that people love this series as much as I do!
Is anyone else waiting impatiently for The Winter Long?

Perhaps it would help if I told you what these books are about?
Toby "October" Daye is a changeling. Born to a full-blooded Fae mother and a human father she is less than nothing to most of the Fae.
She won't take that sitting down.
Against all odds she is taken in by a Fae royal family. She becomes a knight, unheard of for a changeling, and thrives in her new position.
Unfortunately her Sire's wife and daughter are taken and it's her job to get them back.
Following a lead, she gets caught and turned into a koi, for twelve years she is trapped in a pond, in a park, in San Francisco.
Her feancé, her three year old daughter, and her Sire, all left with no idea what happened.
This is all in the very beginning of the first book, Rosemary and Rue.
There is also a King of Cats, named Tybalt, who is reminiscent of David Bowie from The Labyrinth. A rose goblin named Spike who is literaly a living rose bush in the shape of a cat. Lots of Fae politics. Love, hate, joy, sorrow, and dangerous situations.
Plus lots of magic, and later in the series, mermaids. Who doesn't like mermaids?
Also this series is still being written...years of enjoyment yet. Publishers and sales willing.

Just finished The Winter Long (book #8) and I feel like my world has been flipped and spun around in the best way possible!
I can't believe it will be another year until the next one.
It's always worth the wait though!

I guess one of the reasons for that is, that Seanan McGuire doesn't rush things. It took her seven books, before she could finally write the one she had in mind, when the idea for this series struck her.
That's seven books of great world building, of giving each charakter his or her own history and secrets, of relationships to grow or end and of hilarious quotes.
"When Rome burned, the emperor's cats still expected to be fed on time." (Rosemary and Rue)
And now with book eight, it feels as if the story is just about to begin.

Someone actually loves October!
I know what you mean about quotes...so many to pick from.
Have you tried her Incryptid series?
Or read her as Mira Grant?
Anyway...
Do you have any theories about what's coming for our dear October?
This last book has made me want to go back and read them all over again!

As for theories... well the Luidaeg mentioned some plan she has for October. I guess that's still in place. And maybe October gets to visit Cananda. I really would like her to meet Quentins parents.
When it comes to Tybalt and the wedding... I don't know...I'm a little afraid that something awful is going to happen.

And I know that Evening isn't gone...
Her books written as "Mira Grant" are more horror than urban fantasy really.
I enjoy them anyway.
I'm still wondering about Toby's parentage...no matter what has been said I feel it's in question.

This is one of the greatest rides I've ever been on with a series.
I just want to know...and yet never find out.
The day all my questions are answered would be the saddest day of my life.
