What is your Favorite Non-Fiction book?

Post by AlexisLizzyHog »

Do you have a favorite Non-Fiction book? A book that someone wrote about thier lives or another person's? Well I want to know! I don't care if it is a biography, or an auto-bio, isn't that fun to say!
My favorite is the auot-bio by Bethany Hamilton: Soul Surfer!
What is yours?

For me there two books that are my favorite non-fiction in that category. The first is Two Years Before The Mast by Richard Henry Dana, its an account of a ship that picked up hides in southern California in the 1830's and took them back around the horn to the east coast. He describes southern California in great detail, especially the San Diego area the people, the customs, etc. The other book I like is the biography of H. P. Lovecraft by Sprague DeCamp. It goes into minute detail about his life and writings. Both are excellent books.

I mostly read fiction, but here are a few non-fiction books I really like:
- The Campaigns of Alexander by Arrian
- War by Sebastian Junger
- Moab Is My Washpot by Stephen Fry

I usually write all kinds of autobiographies or just biographies of famous people like politicians, musicians or some other great people who are important for our lives.

Dosent it take more time for research than actually writing the book?

I like a lot of non-fiction, but seeing the topic title reminded me of "Two Centuries of Warfare".
