Have you read The Hitchhikers' Guide To The Galaxy? Is it a good book? Do you recommend it?

it's one of the wittiest reads I've ever had.

It was initially written as a radio play, then a book (a five book trilogy, if memory serves me correct), then a movie.

the movies don't do it justice, of course.

I absolutely love Hitchhikers. Douglas Adams' humour is so random, yet somehow hilarious.

I did watch the movie. I didn't expect to like it, but I really did. It definitely takes liberties, but if you take that into consideration, I think its a good movie.

I enjoyed the movie but I like the books much more. I have all the stories collected in one big hardback and it was well worth the money. I'm a big fan of random humor and dry humor too and this book had me laughing the whole way through. I'm glad it was recommended to me.

You must read it (and the rest of the series ) - probably some of the funniest books written.
Radio series was very good
TV adaptation was dreadful - special effects werent that good
Havent seen the film so cant comment
But please if you can read at least HitchHicker

I loved the movie especially because it had Mos Def in it who is probably my favorite hip-hop artist.

I can't recall if I read any of the series or not. If I did it was when I was about 12 or 13. I remember reading a series about aliens coming to earth and loving it especially because of its implicit commentary on human society and such. But I'm not sure if that was the Hitchhikers' series or not. I don't think so.
