'The Help' by Kathryn Stockett

Post by Fran »

Anyone read The Help? I've just finished it & it's a marvelous read IMO. Anyone who enjoyed To Kill a Mocking Bird would like it ... extraordinary the casual cruelties of day to day life inflicted under segregation. The strength of these women leave me breathless with admiration.
Definitely gets a 10/10 from me

Would love to hear opinions of other readers.

I really enjoyed it as well. And it was a very quick read.

I thought it was an excellent read. I read it very quickly, too. Trying to read the dialect of some of the characters was a bit difficult in the beginning, but it didn't take long to get into the swing of it. I thought it was a wonderfully written example of how things used to be, and really gives you an eye opening feeling of what it would have been like to be on either side of the fence in those days.
