Justine - Marquis de Sade

Post by kraken »

I want to read this book, but I have no idea which version to get. I want one that is most accurate to the original and one that also reflects the style of writing at the time. Sometimes people have taken Victorian era or pre-Victorian era writings and re-wrote the English in Modern English which pretty much kills the point of reading those books.

I hear the Grove edition is best, but I can't seem to find it in it's own book, without a bunch of Sade's other works stuffed in. And I'm not really that much of a fan of Sade to read all that other stuff. I think what Napoleon said about him would be close to my opinion of him. I just want to read his best work before condemning the man.
