I'd have to say Janice Thompson, her book Fools Rush In. It made me cry I was laughing so hard with its beautiful descriptions of a first generation Italian family living in Texas.

I believe the funniest book I have read is "Tales of my Horizontal Life" by Chelsea Handler.

I'm laughing now at some of the descriptions posted (and will have to try some of the suggestions).

If you have not read Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me by Mindy Kaling, you absolutely need to! I was actually laughing out loud while reading it. She's got a hilarious POV.

Somewhere I have a book called Preposterous Pappa and it is one of the funniest books I have ever read. I think part of it might have been the fact that I could imagine my own father pulling some of the same stunts.

Candide, by Voltaire. It is one of my favorite books. I've re-read it countless times throughout my life and, without fail, I plow through the whole thing with a huge smile on my face each and every time.

The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside The Room, the Greatest Bad Movie Ever Made by Greg Sestero was really funny. I've probably never laughed more at a book. The best part was it's all true.

A long time ago I read "the egg and I" about the author's misadventures poultry farming in the American wilderness. It was the basis of the old Ma and Pa kettle movies. Hilarious!

Ella wrote:Anything by Mary Roach....especially Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers
I would have to absolutely agree with you! I'd say that she is my current favorite author. Stiff was hilarious and informative. If you like that one you should read Bonk: The Curious Coupling of Science and Sex. Initially it was a book that I just wanted to read quietly and never tell anyone about, (considering the current stigma on anything revolving around sex). After reading Bonk I became such a head full of weirdly awesome trivia on sex that I decided to try Mary's other books to try to learn more stuff! I'm currently in possession of her space book but haven't started it yet!

Funniest book I've ever read was Paper Towns. The only reason I actually liked that book is because of the funny parts. :P

Wow! This is an old thread. I think I first responded to it about 5 years ago.

My answer is still the same - Don Quixote by Cervantes.

I would have to say the Stephanie Plum Series by Janet Evanovich. They are full of so much wit and turns. Seems like every time you flip the page, Stephanie is getting into some other kind of trouble.

'The Little Golden Calf' by Ilya Ilf was one of those books I could not stop laughing while reading. In general I do not like books like this but if you are in a bad mood it is a good way to cheer yourself up. Can't remember more... I'm probably more often crying than laughing while reading.

The funniest book I've read is "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nigh-time." I loved that book in high school. I also enjoyed The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. That one is classic.
