I read the entire series and I highly recommend it. I just love Sookie she's an interesting character and one of the strongest female characters that I read in this genre.

I have read about half the series, but I love it. I have watched True Blood and the books have different characters at times I wish had been put in the show. (Like "Bubba") hehe

I love the books but am not a fan of the HBO series. The books are well written and keep you reaching for the next book. The HBO series does not follows the book series.

This series was amazing!!!!! I purchased the first of the series secondhand on Amazon after suffering from True Blood withdrawals and was interested to see how closely the books were to the series. I instantly became hooked!! These books are so dog-earred and the binding is completely destroyed after reading, and re-reading these books again and again. Even though the series and the books drifted apart after sometime (which I was quite upset that the series didn't follow some of the novels storylines, I was looking forward to seeing a few characters and plots on the screen) but they equally kept me hooked. I even named my pitbull Sookie Stackhouse in honor of the character. I would definitely recommend the series to anyone.

I watched the HBO series before I read the book so I wasn't a fan of the book. But I would say its worth reading and watching the series.

I enjoyed reading the books as well as watching the show on TV! I thought the books were great but they did differ from the show.

I read the first three books over 10 years ago and I loved them. Haven't read any of the ones after that but from the first three I'd say they are definitely worth it. I love Alcide. :D

The books are amazing! I read them when I was 12 (which for most people may have been a bit young, given all of the violence and sex) but I strongly recommend them to anyone who has even the slightest interest in vampires. These books renewed my faith isn society after the whole "sparkle" situation and are just all round, a great read. The books are a bit different to the TV show. One character that dies in the books doesn't die in the show and now has their own big story arch. But other than that one instance, the show is spot on in terms of sticking to the book, which is more than I can say for a lot of tv/film adaptions.
So many books to read, so little time..

I highly recommend this series to ANYONE who enjoys vampires, werewolves, witches, or good ole Louisiana! I read this before the True Blood television series came on and I loved it. It bummed me out after the first season that they began to slowly not follow the books. The books give you a better insight on what is going on in the Sookie Stackhouse world instead of either making things overly complicated, other pushy agendas, or getting rid of important characters without explaining what happened to them. They are fit for anytime during the day and what any mood you may be in. Sookie Stackhouse proves that even the most normal or in her case not-so-normal waitress life can be turned upside down when a stranger walks into your bar.

I will admit, she got kind of mean over the course of time because of everything that happened to her but the stories become more intense. Why not try to read them again. You never know, it might change.

I actually tried it two days ago and I couldn't put up with how Charlaine Harris ruined the whole "figure it our yourself, reader" situation. She started the book talking about vampires being already inserted in human societies and drinking synthetic blood, and I'm like: what's the point?
So I moved on to another book I liked more 8)
