I really like the title of this book. It's so fun to say. The "Wile" part of it does make more sense now that I've read your review, but I'm still not entirely sure what exactly the whole title means. It's intriguing. Guess the only spoiler-free way to know is to read the book!

Great review, but it sounds like a very sad story, but a very realisticone too. Thank you for a wonderful review and congratulations to the author for such a positive review.

I usually comment on my favorite part of a review, but your entire review is amazing!
Seriously, you touched on so many things that aren't featured in the book's summary! :D

Thanks for the insightful review. This sounds like a very emotional story but it also sounds like really interesting story.

This sounds like a very heart wrenching story about dealing with loss and learning to forgive, that I'm sure will be as good to read as the message it conveys is to the soul. Thank you for an enlightening review!

Brailling for Wile is a very interesting and complex book. You start off thinking that Helyana is a redeeming character type. The good shining through the bad circumstances. As the story unfolds, you start realizing that Helyana is much more complex. Not sure whether this was intended or not, but a main theme that I picked up on is that of spiritual abuse - Helyana being taught and controlled by her grandfather... She ended up manipulated into beliefs that would appear to have somewhat of a sound theological base, but to an "outsider," the beliefs are actually, quite odd at best, and actually very wrong indeed. Helyana, being a child (therefore "innocent") has assimilated these beliefs. It is not until Helyana has her near-death experience, that she has her epiphany of God not being what she had always believed, which includes a rejection of her grandfather's viewpoint. I believe all along, Helyana was innocent and had been manipulated (such as Margaret being manipulated by Goethe's Faust), which allowed her to be protected from death. Thus, rather than being a redeeming character, Helyana was the redeemed character.

Thank you for sharing, greenstripedgiraffe. I couldn't put it better myself! This is why I actually end up liking Helyana even though I've heard others do not. Thank you for your insight. :)
