Thanks MgNell. Don't forget to give your cat a treat before you sit down to read. :)

Whenever I pull out my Kindle, my cat curls up next to me on the sofa. No treat necessary. :D

Hope you enjoy the book.

I think your cat deserves lots of treats. After all, he was the inspiration for the book. :)

I'm sure she would agree with you 100%, unfortunately her Vet wouldn't be happy.

Very nice review and sounds like a great book. I have a Tabby cat and she is smart. Tonight I was showing her bird videos for cats on youtube and she was watching intently and loved it. It's her movie night lol. I love reading about cats so I'll have to check this book out!

JennyLee99, I'll have to try that. My cat Bella will sit by the window for hours staring at the birds in the yard. She would probably be amused by the Youtube video's you mentioned

BTW - If you (or anyone on this forum) decides to read the book, I'd love to know which one of the stories is your favorite?

Bookowlie mentioned in the review that A Charcoal Christmas is her favorite and from my perspective as the writer, I have to agree. I felt really good about that story the minute I completed it. :D

Yes, "A Charcoal Christmas" was my favorite, although I enjoyed all of the stories.

This book looks really good, although I would not describe it as cute. Maybe the author would consider changing the cover? I know this would be a hard decision, because the one he's got is really lovely, but it doesn't appear to express the mature, thoughtful mood of the stories (I read the Look Inside feature.) Though it might be hard to find a picture of a cat that wasn't cute!
Thank you, bookowlie, for a nice review. I suspect the homophone problem might be spellcheck run amuck! Never trust a machine, is my motto.

@victoriaR

I hate to disagree Victoria. All cats are cute. Even tiny little lions. Haha.

Thank you for the thoughtful post, Victoria.

The print copy of the book is only available through Amazon and Createspace.com. In both cases I've made it clear to the reader that this is not a children's book. I would hope that people don't purchase a book simply based on a cute cover. I hope that (like you) people will read the description and then decide if the book is of interest to them.

When we were designing the cover, the graphic artist and I did have some concern that the cover might be to cute for the subject matter, but in the end we decided to go with the white kitten as portrayed in the second story of the book. If nothing else the cuteness of the cover has enticed readers to check out the contents of the book.

Does anyone else feel that the cover should be changed?

I agree that the style of the cover gives a different feel to a book which has mature, thoughtful stories. While all cats are cute, I think the style of this cover is due to the cat looking posed with the Santa hat and shown much larger than the outdoor setting.

I believe the cover does it's job of attracting the curiosity of the reader, but I think it's the book description that ultimately convinces or dissuades a reader from buying the book.

Very true. I think you also mentioned the book is only available online. Covers seem to be more important when a reader browses an brick-and-mortar bookstore. When browsing books on Amazon, I don't pay as much attention to the covers. I agree the book description is the most pertinent.

Set during the Christmas season, there is a common thread of the intense connection between cats and people.

This sound great.
Thank you for good review.

Thanks and welcome to the forums! Animal lovers would love this book as they would be able to relate to that intense connection.
