Thank you Bookowlie! C.S. Lewis is one of my favorite thinkers ever! I totally agree that it's really hard to sit there and read while children are being hurt so badly. Your review was really beautiful and it sounds like A.L. Smith did a beautiful job writing this book it a really honest way!

Although the C.S. Lewis quote is also great, I was referring the Ayn Rand quote on your avatar. Very cool quote. :)

This book deserves nothing less than 4 out of 4 stars. I became so absorbed that I had to reorient myself to my surroundings after reading the last page. The author should be commended for shining a light on a sensitive topic by crafting an interesting, believable tale. I would recommend this book to anyone who appreciates good writing, particularly about a subject that is too often swept under the rug.

Thank you for this wonderful review, bookowlie! I think this would be a difficult read for me but appreciate the sensitivity by the author. The people and relationships in this story sound fascinating. I love that each character has their own different way of dealing with this situation.

Thanks Anonanemone. I have to admit this is not the type of book I would choose if I saw it in a bookstore, due to the subject matter. However, I am really glad I read it and would definitely read future books by this author.

This is definitely a topic that would be heartbreaking to read, yet it is an issue that needs more awareness. I am glad to hear the author was able to tell a story like this without resorting to explicit sex scenes.

I agree. It was nice to see the plot handled this way, since I am not a fan of graphic sex scenes in books.

Another good review! An unpleasant subject to be sure, but if it shines some light on it and perhaps helps some who are victims, then it serves a purpose. Honestly, I personally wouldn't read it simply as "entertainment." But it's a well-written critique, and congratulations to the author for a 4-star review!

Thanks Pasha. Strangely enough, the book is uplifting in its display of the resilience of the women.

Sexual abuse is a difficult topic for a novel, but the author dealt with it that well. What made it readable was that the focus was on the three girls lives and not the abuse.

This really sounds like a good read. I like when a story is told from varying points of view. I think especially considering the circumstances in this novel, it was best to tell it that way to show each of the women's unique experience.

Thanks for the great review!
