Sounds like a very interesting book. It may not be my usual reading material but for some reason I want to know more. I will add it to my to read list. Luckily amazon unlimited has it so I can test it out and see what I think.

This story sounds so scary! Your review is quite amazing though, and you are the best writer I have seen in a long time. Keep up the great work!

Thank you for your comment. It's not really scary, but there are some unsettling things that happen.

I find this book to be very odd, but the characters are very vivid. I don't really want to read more of the book.

Character portrayal is generally well done. Some may find the content not to their liking.

Thanks for the review and comments. I'm the author and I enjoy an honest, thorough critical review that allows me to improve my writing in the future. I admit I didn't fully explore all the characters, but I wrote this novel knowing that I had a prequel in mind (which will be available by year end - "Rosey Dawn") and several sequels following the lives of Rosemary's supporting cast. So, you can always find out more about them in future works. I debated with myself for months on whether or not I should exclude the first chapter because I knew it would turn some readers away before they gave the book a chance. In the end, I decided that it was more important to set the tone with this chapter and establish the nature of the beast called Rosemary. I intended for the character of Richard to be an indecisive and stagnant father throughout much of the book because his inaction is what drives his family. They are all waiting on him to take a stand as the man, but he is still very much the child we saw standing in the tub in chapter one.

Thank you for your comments. It's always nice to hear from the authors themselves. A couple of thoughts in response: I think the decision to include the first chapter was the right one. Since this is a public forum, I won't disclose too much, but I think it helps the reader to understand both Rosemary and Richard. It lends some support/continuity to the ending as well. And thanks for your remarks regarding the character of Richard throughout the story. My comments in the review notwithstanding, I understand why you chose to portray him the way you did. The prequel should be most interesting, as the character of Rosemary is, if not likable, quite compelling. Learning more about her history should prove both interesting and enlightening.

Very well done. Reading about child abuse isn't in my heart, but the way you described this story makes me want to read this book. Sometimes we have to look past the awful to find the good.

True, but it is a compelling book with a memorable main character. All in all, I enjoyed the book, and I recommend it to those who don't mind some disturbing events/themes.
