Strange story that begins with a cowboy escaping to France after a shooting that had a posse after him. He becomes a drunk after finishing his career in the France Army. Meanwhile while he was fleeing a shepherd was murdered by a miner that saw him find gold. The Shepard survives long enough to notify his daughter of the claim. 18 years later she hires the drunk to get her to the area by a false marriage. The drunk did not know that he was blamed for her father's murder by some. Many miles later they hire 2 brothers to help them find the mine. The old miner kills one and thought he had killed the other. Meanwhile the drunk becomes sober and in love with his wife. He manages to figure out the miner killed her father and saves the day after she hires hit men believing he is guilty of killing her father. Story complete with snowfall and mules.
Story is entertaining but somehow rambling with the expected ending. Almost too late she finds the truth and saves the man she married. Great free ebook from Amazon
