The Storyteller - Jodi Picoult

Post by storybird »

After a long break from reading, this is the first book I picked up. Immediately I was drawn into the life of Sage Singer, a baker who works overnight to avoid social interaction. She is a very human, understandable, heartbreaking protagonist who blames herself for her mother's death, struggling with a new friend's confession and request. There is also a story within the story, a morbidly beautiful Edgar Allen Poe-esque metaphor of its writer. I highly suggest this book to anyone who enjoys psychological thrillers. This book is very Holocaust centered, so I also highly suggest this to anyone who is interested in the Holocaust and WWII.
