I just joined tonight, and am already somewhat regretting my decision since after reading this review I have yet another book added to my TBR list. That was an outstanding, well-thought out review for what sounds like a very interesting book!

AND I love Pearl Buck! One of her books "The Living Reed" is sitting in my drawer at work.

Welcome, Mellysw!

When I did a little research on Pearl Buck for this review, I discovered JUST HOW MANY books she'd written that I had not read! As you say, the never-ending TBR list ...

Funny, I was recently reading about Machiko's form of OCD: It is known as dermatillomania. Just felt like sharing a little psych nerd information :)

You wrote a great review and the books sounds like a very engrossing read.

Thanks, LivreAmour! I did not know the name of Machiko's disorder, but I had read a personal testimony by a woman who had it, in a women's magazine, so I knew it does happen. "Dermatillomania." Sounds like a fun word to say, not so fun to experience.

Nice pun with "enGROSSing."

Lol, I didn't intend to use a pun, but it does work, doesn't it?

Wow! It's amazing what a GREAT review can do for an author. I read the review (very well written) and the comments. After doing so I am compelled to read outside my "Comfort zone" and get a copy of this book.

I definitely want to read the rest of this book as well. Just from the sample, it's a beautiful, poignant exploration of "The First Noble Truth". Love the descriptive, visual writing style. My only criticism would be that at the beginning it seems to jump around a bit, but its not very offputting. Moar please!
