This Is Not A Test, by Courtney Summers is a zombie novel you will not soon forget. The story is narrated through the eyes of Sloane Price, a high school student who has taken shelter from the zombie apocalypse with five other students in their high school. Sloane has a preoccupation though: where is her sister? Why did she abandon her? What happened to her deadbeat father? Sloane wonders this throughout the novel and contemplates leaving shelter to search for her sister. Sloane has lost everything and even considers suicide: death by zombies, even. This novel is wrought with emotion, leaving the reader feeling Sloane's pain. The reader also is confronted with the thought: what happens when you lose everything? This compelling read is great for anyone who enjoys a good zombie thriller and is interested in seeing the world through the mind of a suicidal/grief stricken teen.
