“It was a dark and stormy night.” This infamous phrase gives sets the perfect tone for this story, and is a prelude for what is to come. Only in a work of fiction could an assassin, a clown, a wrestler, and an old ninja come together to fight off Nazis and ancient gods. These quirky characters find themselves on a nonstop thriller with twists and life threatening danger around every corner.

The story begins with Caleb, a dedicated and talented assassin. He is focused on finishing his last assignment and moving on with his life. What should be a no nonsense job quickly turns into something he would have never imagined, not even in his wildest dreams. He somehow finds himself starring in this series of events that could not possibly be real, and drawn to an ancient cup of all things. After attempting to complete his assignment, something goes amiss and he finds himself on the run.

El Pato, a famous wrestler is the next man we meet. He literally bumps into Rambozo the Clown, and together they try to navigate out of the stormy night. They seek shelter in a Chinese Buffet, where they meet Wang, a not quite retired ninja. All four men could not be any different, and yet fate has made sure that they find a way to work together to save humanity from the monsters that are trying to take over.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. It’s definitely a page turner and extremely bizarre. It’s too creative to merit 2 stars, but it’s not quite deserving of 4 stars. Banjo is a wonderful storyteller, and his style of writing is full of dark humour and excitement.

This is a really fun book to read. It’s full of silliness and absurdity that will keep you entertained until the very end. The story is not to be taken too seriously, and is really just a breath of fresh air in that it is light and easy to enjoy. It’s unlike any book I have ever read, so if you want something new and unique this is it.
