It is just a romance, loaded with elements of BDSM and sex. I have found it to be quite tame compared to the book I am reading at the moment (The Story of O). I also feel it follows a similar storyline to Twilight. Does anyone else think the same?

Even though it does have a good amount of sex in it... it is mainly about two people, who are polar opposites, who meet and end up lusting after each other. They go through some hard times, and have many life altering decisions to make. It is a love story, and a sweet one at that. You just have to read through all the sex. I love this series <3

Fifty Shades of Grey is about a young woman and a wealthy businessman who fall in love after become sex partners. The series are filled with sex and love. The sex gets repetitive after reading all the books in the series. The series deals with the main issues in the couple's relationships, as well as, both of them getting used to being with one another.

To me fifty shades of grey was more about a man wite low self esteem and who had trust issues. The erotica was just a way to cover up those issues in his life until he met someone he trusted. Its more about emotions and learning its ok to trust than sex. That's what I got out of it.

I have read the whole series of Fifty Shades of Grey. I will be honest, yes it is erotica and it takes a lot of effort to get past the beginning of the first book. I hated the book at first, but everybody made such a big deal about so I thought I would at least TRY to get through half of the book. It FINALLY started getting interesting and then I wanted to read the rest of the series. I wasn't interested in it because of the sex or the pain of it, I liked the story line.

If you can handle a lot of sex and weird sex at that then go for it. Honestly it made me blush. Its about a man with a past and low self esteem and a girl who sometimes you wish you could smack silly. It was pretty good I thought though.

its a very good book series honestly yes its alot of sex but its a great read. its about a very wealthy man with a twisted depressing past and a young woman from no money and doesnt think highly of her self. they fall in love have kinky sex alot...but there are alot of twists and turns through the whole book whether it be revenge plots or exs or what ever it will leave you wanting and needing the 4th book out.

Well I've read the 50 shades of Grey series about 3 times this year. The writing is in no way worthy of a Nobel Prize but it does have it's merits. The BDSM is really over done. You read through the first sex session and its great and as described in the book it is really vanilla compared to the heavy BDSM in the book. But it's like there is sex every other 5 pages and its kind of the same thing so by the second book I skipped through all the sex scenes because it was truly unnecessary to me. The love story is what kept me reading the book. And the unpredictability of the book was great you really never knew where this book was headed and I rather loved that about it.

I agree. The three books could be edited into one really good novel. I thought the storyline (psychological aspect of why he is the way he is) was the most interesting feature of this novel. The sarcastically cute e-mails back and forth in the seccond book was a nice touch. A really good editing could have elevated this trilogy from pulp to a seriously single good novel.

Its a romance novel, a story between a man with too many issues to count and a woman who somehow helps him get through all of these issues. The story line is good but too much BDSM, which was unnecessary.

I believe that it wouldn't be called an erotica if it didn't have S&M or BDSM ( in my opinion ). I did enjoy the book over all and absolutely loved the story line.. Personally I also enjoyed the sex scenes and felt that it was a good way to show the lust and love Christian and Anastasia felt for one another, rather than just the typical mushy "'I love you' 'no I love you more'" type of relationship. Overall I have to give this book series a 9.5 out of 10

Fifty Shades of Grey is actually about a wordly guy who seduces an innocent girl. There is an instant attraction when they meet and she can't resist him. What she eventually finds out is that he is into some fairly kinky stuff, some of it pretty dark and she is not sure she can handle him. Unfortunately, she has begun to fall for him and has seen something in him that leads her to believe he is not as disturbed as she originally thought. There is quite a bit of explicit sex in the book but it is fairly well done and titillating. The first book will definitely leave you wanting more; however, they should have ended it after the second book. The third book is almost a chore to get through and this is from someone who loves sex in a book.

It's based off a fanfiction of Twilight, she just changed the names when they gave her a publishing deal. I found the book to be a cliche and ridiculous. Her writing scheme was terrible and I feel like her editor should be shot or should probably get her college degree revoked.

It was indeed twilight fan fiction- and I read it as such first. The erotic parts of the book were there but did not over power the story line. I liked it enough to finish the series.

I thoroughly enjoyed it and i can go on forever about it, pro's & con's. I have heard many good and bad reviews about this series but I couldn't help but find myself captivated by it. Christian Grey is dreamy but in no way do I think this man is a reality other then in my own imagination which is the best part about reading books in the first place. Some find it disturbing but it is erotica and if your not comfortable with that kind of stuff then its not recommended for you.
There is a lot more to the book then just Christian Grey & sex scenes, there is a story behind it and if you didn't take the time to read it you will never know anything other then the characters name and some reference to sexual content. It touches on some rather dark issues like molestation (his aunt who taught him everything he knows), addiction (his submissives), abandonment issues.
All the boring parts that people feel are drawn out is what created the story surrounding the main character & erotic references. It's not a porno its a trilogy. A story. It's fantasy & imagination no different then the purpose of any other book. It just may not be the genre for you. But I highly recommend that people give loose judgment if you have not read the book cover to cover because the first few chapters don't tell the story and not just for this trilogy but any book, how can you know if you really like it until it ends?
As for the author not being a good writer, I had no issues because I was anticipating the outcome so much.
