Followed my Star by AR Annahita is a narrative Non-Fiction book that elucidates a variety of political, economic, cultural, social, ethnic, spiritual, and religious issues from the perspective of the narrator.
AR Annahita is an Iranian born woman who grew up in Germany and currently lives in the US. She is a photographer and an author who discovered her passion for the art world very early in life. She considers photography as her creative outlet where all her passions come together. From the very early age of 14 years, she has been thinking about philosophical questions, and she has channeled these questions into the books that she writes.
Followed my Star is the third in a three-part series by the author. Even though it was difficult to detect, the overarching theme of the book is an admonition to achieve balance in many or all aspects of life. The author believes that achieving this balance or failure to do so, affects humankind not only in the spiritual realm but also in relationships, the economy, and even in politics.
In the attempt to establish the lesson on achieving balance, AR Annahita used as her examples, subjects that were controversial, and divisive. A few of these subjects are race, abortion, and homosexuality. The author also explicitly expressed her views on subjects such as corruption pertaining to whole societies or sections of a particular society, corruption pertaining to certain political parties and even corruption pertaining to certain media houses.
The author also rendered herself to debatable subjects such as the perceived superiority complex or hypocrisy of certain nations and countries. She compared nations, countries, and even continents on some rather debatable scores such as honesty, the Law of Attraction, and the Illuminati.
From the onset, the book was a very difficult one to read since there was no Introduction, no Foreword, and no Contents page. There was no labeling of the chapters as well. Thus, there was nothing to lead one on to read the next chapter or to know what to expect. In reading through the book, I could not help but acknowledge that the author ought to have read Book Blueprint, the book that I had read, and reviewed before this one since that book offered tailored practical guides to write a book that is above average.
It was a difficult book to finish. Perhaps the only consolation in reading through the book was the fact that the length of the book was short, and most chapters did not exceed three pages of material. Indeed, it will be difficult to recommend this book to a book lover, or any other person for that matter, since the basis for such a recommendation will be very fringy. I could not point to one thing that I would like to recommend to someone about the book. However, I would also not discourage anyone from reading it since their opinions may somehow sit with those expressed in the book.
Perhaps any potential reader should be encouraged to read the first, and second books in the series before picking up this one since it may put this one in perspective. Even though the book appeared to be unfinished, and poorly edited, I will give it 2 out of 4 stars in order not to completely discourage the author from continuing her dream of writing.
