I thought I was applying to do book reviews and earn $. Joining a talk forum is not what I've been led to believe. Hester

Greetings, one and all -
I'm an art historian - one who values *every* era for its connection to what came before and for what it will inspire. That makes me a generalist, I guess, though my specialty is 17th c. Netherlandish. I am excited to have found this site (via RatRaceRebellion) because I have spent so much of my life inside books. My tastes are wide and varied - History, Historical Fiction, the Classics, Sci-Fi/Fantasy, True Crime/Thrillers/Mysteries and a really well researched Historical Romance - it's all just so goooooood! When the world becomes too much to bear I crawl into my hole, pull the rock in behind me, and take out a good book. Which brings me to a question: Does anybody else have certain favorite books that they have kept over the years and have read over and over (even though you know the outcome)? Why do you do it?
