Greetings from the stacks

Post by rachel_bruhn »

Hello everyone! My name is Rachel and I am (almost) 27 years old. My current job is being a Legal Assistant, but my true passions reside outside the 9-5 (or for me 8-5). I live with my fiance and our 4 year old son. While we only have one biological child, I like to include my "fur babies" in my family, so we also have a 10 month old Husky, a 5 year old house cat, and a 3 year old Chinchilla (or mouse bunny as I like to call him). I have always enjoyed reading (except for when I was in law school....not a fan of those textbooks!). I love reading so much we actually have plans in place to build a floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall bookshelf in our bedroom with a window nook for reading! My taste in books is sort of like my taste in music...all over the place! I think I am drawn a lot to the "young adult" fiction, although I also enjoy fantasy fiction, mystery, romance, etc. I tend to jump on any book that has been turned into a Hollywood film, usually unaware that it was a book first (and I ALWAYS like the books better). I am the type of person you don't want to take to the movies with you if I have read the book....they always get it WRONG and I am happy to comment on it. :) I always feel like I am the last one to know about books, considering not many of my friends are bookworms like me! I am hoping to step in to the book reviewing world to try to get ahead of the curve (instead of a bandwagon fan) and hopefully turn my passion for reading into a career that will allow me to be a stay-at-home Mom down the road.

Thanks everyone! Is it odd that I just figured out the easy way to see if people have commented on threads that I have posted on? This site should come with a tutorial! I am still finding out new tricks to the site. :)

Hi Rachel. Huh, there are tricks to this site? I usually just hit New Posts and take it from there.

I found out that if you go to "Your Posts" the color of the boxes next to topics you have posted on tells you if there are new posts since yours. Green means there have been new posts and gray means there haven't. :)
