I've never done anything like this before; taking some time out for myself, in my pajamas, coffee in hand and pitter-patter in my heart that I'm doing something rebellious. Sounds strange to some of you, I'm sure. It's OK, I understand. Let me describe to you what I did with my time for the last 30 years, then you'll understand, too. I was one of those multiply titled people: wife, mother of three active boys, "Momma-zucco" to many other children who call my home their second home, college student, teacher of day care, preschool, private and home school, who read only college material and teaching material, enrolled in a Children's Writing Course for guidance on how to publish, had many other part time jobs to financially manage the teaching at a non-profit, private Christian school possible, battled some chronic issues, special education needs within the family, sold my sewing and art, published a poem, hospitalized just before I was to finish the Children's Writing Course, taught summer Vacation Bible School, still only read college material and teaching material, visited and changed multiple towns, homes, churches, jobs, Navy reservist husband went active during my senior year of college so I transferred to an online zone which lead to changing majors and adding more classes. (Feel free to take a complimentary breath right now and notice I've begun to recognize the cycle I am on.) During that time my father and grandmother died, my mother re-married and Dear Bob passed away a couple of years later, my sister and brother both have young children and chronic illnesses, our pets of 18 and 15 years old died, thus, new pets, so we volunteered at pet shelters, bought into four start up direct sales businesses, (mostly with regret), was PTO Mom and President, Head Start Parent Liaison and hosted a summer reading program with three working friends to bond and see if I still knew how to read regular words, finally graduated and got a community action head start job that still fills my ministry heart, yet pays the student loans: it was then that I quickly slowed down on extra work, realized my boys were adults, thanked the Almighty God that I am still an active part of their lives, realized I missed the summer reading discussion with adults my age, slowed down even more, realized I can still read regular words and books that aren't specifically for my college courses, started remembering the magic of books past read, started seeking out adult book clubs worthy of my attention, found you, found hope, found fun! Hi, I'm Bridget Zucco, and I am master of the intentional run on sentence and storytelling!
