Greetings from Hemel Hempstead.

Post by SteveH »

Hi. I'm Steve Horsfall, I'm 63, and I'm a reader, book-lover, postal worker, pipe-smoker, cyclist and various other things. I'm originally from Stockport in Greater Manchester, and have lived in Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire since 1975. (Both in the UK.) Favourite writers include Keats, Hopkins, Carol Anne Duffy, Orwell, Scott, Austen, the Brontes, and many more.

Oh, I love Keats he's great but Austen is my favorite author of all times. You guys in the UK have the best authors (but that's just my opinion).

By the way Hello Steve I'm Ed from Steilacoom, WA in the U.S.

Thanks for the welcome. I think you've got some pretty good authors over there too! I love the poetry of e e cummings.

I should check him out. Innisfree is my favorite poem by Yeats
Yeats wrote:I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree,
And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made;
Nine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honey-bee,
And live alone in the bee-loud glade.

And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow,
Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings;
There midnight’s all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow,
And evening full of the linnet’s wings.

I will arise and go now, for always night and day
I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;
While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey,
I hear it in the deep heart’s core
.
