Hello. I was happy to find this little community online, which appears to be a nice mix of book-friendly people from around the world. I'm a new author but an old writer. For years I wrote screenplays and made a living in Hellywood. But writers there are second class citizens, architects whose plans are constantly altered by contractors and fickle clients. Not a very satisfying environment for a creative writer.
A decade ago I abandoned that career to focus on writing novels. I nearly completed two before I finally found my "sea legs". Putting those two aside I started a third and finished it. I registered it here and am waiting for a review.
My tastes are eclectic but I made the mistake of launching my career in Hollywood as a horror writer, and instantly was pegged as such. Luckily in today's digital publishing world, there is more freedom and choice. A writer can shift subjects without fear of being stifled by agents and publishers looking for easy sales.
My first novel is a Stephen King-ish horror tale, or a dark modern fairy tale as I like to call it (with witches and shapeshifters), because I figured it would maybe help me find an audience (and get a bit of needed financial stability so I can continue writing).
After completing one of the two almost completed novels I started, I plan to write a fictionalized expose of Hollywood based on my own experiences.
