Hello from the Sound

I'm Charlie and I live on my boat in the Puget Sound. I like to read, but not nearly at the pace some of the members
of the Club do. Being American, most of what I read is by American authors. Browsing the Club, I noticed
the books reviewed are from a variety of countries and cultures. So hope to expand my library by reading recommended
books from other countries. Most recent book read: The Comedians by Graham Greene. Good to be here.

G'day, welcome to the Forums, Charlie. I've flown over Puget Sound and the Northwest Straits - spectacular - and so different to our Great Barrier Reef.

Thank you Maud(and Fran and Gannon) for your warm welcomes. The Sound is very different from The Great Barrier
Reef. Water temps here are rarely much above 45F. I imagine the Reef has much friendlier temps and much more
to see underwater. Cheers.

Hi Charlie and Welcome, I guess we've just found the latest advantage of owning a Tablet/eReader. Sailors don't have to keep dropping anchor and row ashore to visit the nearest library. I bet Lulu, B&N, Apple and Amazon haven't thought of that for their sales blog. I trust you have one!

Can't think what you mean Fran, but there again, as an author of a romantic novel, I am so terribly innocent.

There are lots of reasons to come ashore. I often come ashore to charge up some of the batteries that are integral
to a sailors well being. Like the D batteries in my "torch". How am I supposed to read my Gideons Bible if my "torch"
is at half mast? Jibe ho!

You could always try reading an Award-winning romantic novel out of the publisher's/bookseller's 'Staff Picks'. That might help to keep your burgee atop the mast.

Hard on the Wind and never in doubt." Know what I mean?

Thank you for the welcome, Ant. Thats a cool avatar. Tumblin' Dice. Is it your creation? How do you make an avatar
move. Once I'm allowed one, would like to have a sailboat underway, waves and all.
