I always read the book first. Then if I enjoyed the book I will try to watch the movie. I enjoy reading a lot more than I enjoy watching movies. So if I don't enjoy the book then I won't waste my time on the movie.

It's unfortunate, but I tend to see the movie before I ever read the book. Bad timing I guess, but usually the book is a LOT more better then the movie!

Book. I feel like you have more imaginative freedom when reading than when watching a movie. So I prefer to read first.

Book first, definitely. My friends and family have often heard me say 'I want to read the book first' when they ask if I've seen a given book-based movie.

I would prefer to read the book first. Its hard to include everything from the book into a movie and sometimes a totally different meaning comes across, or sometimes I don't think I would understand what is happening in the movie if I hadn't read the book first. I like to see somebody else's interpretation of the book, but usually I prefer the book to the movie.

I have a habit of reading the book(s) before watching the movie(s). The books always hold more detail in my opinion. The movie tend to leave things out and sometimes the movie is just done poorly and doesn't do any justice to the novel and author. Most of the books I read don't have any movie adaptions anyways, haha!

Usually by the time they make the movie for the book, I've already read it so it's too late! But I would definitely recommend seeing the movie first. I often find that, even if it is a good movie, I end up disappointed and not liking it because I compare it to the book the whole time.

Most definetly always the book first! I have never found a case where the movie was better than the book. I have only see the movie first in one or two cases and it ruins the book totally.

I would usually read the book first, but in the case where the book isn't that good (in my opinion, The Hunger Games Series is a good example), then I would watch the movie first, and just skim through the book for extra details about the story.

Book first. That way when you decide to see the movie, you have a better understanding of what is going on. What the character thinks, motivates ... all the stuff that is in the book but can't always translate to film.

I definitely believe in reading the book first! There's just something about reading and putting your own spin on how you picture the protagonist/ other characters, setting etc. Once you have read the book, it's exciting to see how close the movie makers came to what you had imagined. If I watch the movie first however, there's now no desire to read the book again and if you do, you read the book with the images of the movie in mind, which, in my opinion, takes away from the whole experience of reading the book

Book first. It gives you the whole picture, while the movie has some alterations.

Definitely book first. So I can better understand the plot when I see the movie.
