My signature says it all:
Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are.
That's not the only reason, of course, but it's a big one.
Pronouns: She/Her

What is grief, if not love persevering?

Grief is just love with no place to go.

I always want to learn something knew and to discover wisdom, and I can fulfill these need through reading books. I love books and when I find an interesting book I feel an internal happiness. Reading brings me to another world where I discover new things and wisdom which give me pleasure.

Reading is an escape for me. It's the way I decompress. I guess it's my form of meditation, and quiets my mind by giving it something else to do. Like distracting an overactive child :)

There's so much depth to a book than any movie can ever achieve. I've yet to see an adapted film that captures the feel of a book. I'm always disappointed.

I like reading because I am hungry to learn. I love to learn new things and reading allows me to do that. I also suffer from anxiety and it is nice to escape in a book and not have to worry!

As an introvert, reading is like having a best friend. It teaches me new things, keeps me entertained when I'm bored, I don't have to keep up a dialogue with a book and most importantly transports me to places I would love to see.
There is nothing better than the smell of a brand new hardcover book.

Reading for me is my escape from reality. It allows me to destress my mind, kind of like brain yoga.

I like reading for a variety of reasons. The usual one is to escape reality, even for a little while, and jump in to an entirely different one. I could also get thrills for reading a particular genre and have my brain working overtime. Last but not the least, if it's not fiction then I'll be able to learn the experiences of others and pick up some wisdom and insight.

I have liked reading from a very young age.

Love fiction about different people, places, beliefs to lose myself in the story and to learn other customs.

Thrillers love because of excitement and "how is this predicament going to work out."

Nonfiction enjoy reading biographies to learn more about the famous and infamous, as well as tidbits I haven't heard or read about.

I love books, ah, the smell of a new book, love the control of holding a book in my hands, putting it down, picking it up again when I am ready to read.

E-reading is portable entertainment, the ability to carry dozens, gosh even hundreds of books all in one place, heavenly!

Reading is relaxing, there when I'm ready patiently waiting to join me in the next great read!

It's a habit. Because I was the only girl in a family of boys, I retreated into reading and art-making. Now, I can't seem to stop.

Personally, I read for the escape from reality.

There is nothing better than getting into a good romance with a HEA. It makes me forget about all of my troubles or worries. There is nothing like that. :P

It is a lot better than television, and it engages your brain. I would rather read the books than watch the movie, which leaves out plot points, parts of the narrative, etc.

I like reading because it's kind of like an escape from the real world. I think reading really works your imagination. Since it's not like a movie and the characters are right there in front of you, you have to visualize them yourself. It's kind of like creating a movie in your mind.

I like reading because it takes me away to another world, place, time, etc. Life is hard and one of my greatest joys is to escape into a book and deal with someone's else's problems for awhile. I enjoy using my imagination and being able to truly get lost in a book so that I forget that I am separate from it. That is one of the best feelings in the world.
