I read 'History of Benoni' by J.B. Whitehouse- non-fiction; first-edition (thus it is a collector's item). It tells the tale of my hometown from before the place was founded (around 1907), up until the year 1937. It is a boring but, informative and in depth.

I recently read Carve The Mark by Veronica Roth and wrote about it on my blog, but I thought it was a stand alone but it’s a two parter. I wanted to read it as it’s Roth’s first book since the Divergent series and I think it’s an important stage in an author’s career and one I wanted to be around for but to be honest I thought it would be better. She's gone for YA science fiction this time.
It’s set on a different planet so there are no rules, but it’s also slow to get into, you have to let your imagination do it for you, but once it gets going (200 pages in mind you) it’s lovely and spacey, but can be pretty grim and violent. I love the mix of the two. It’s similar to Divergent as it makes the reader think about behaviours, intentions and human relationships, and there are no set good/bad characters at first.
The ending was okay and I'll probably read the next, so 5/10.

The last book I read was something and I gave it 3 out of 4 stars because I liked the ending. It was suppose to be a horror novel but it came off as exaggerated funny to me.

I just finished Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King. Overall I give it a 3/5. It wasn't bad by any means, I just found it sort of underwhelming. Had it been a different author I probably would not have finished. I'll admit I'm more into horror/sci-fi/fantasy more than crime/mystery stuff, so I'm sure my own preferences factor into it as well.

I recently finished Marley and Me by John Grogan. Such a great book! I laughed, I cried, and read it in less than two days. Definite 4/4 stars!
