Latest book purchases.

Post by hazelk »

I always have my head in a book, usually afternoon time as I am retired :P A week does not go by that I do not buy at least three books from my op shops, the price usually varies from 50c to 1$ so no big expense. My latest this week..Carol Shields "Larry's Party", Marilynne Robinson "Lila", Nam Lee "The Boat". I also purchase online my latest is J.B. Vance "Hillbilly Elergy" I have ordered this after viewing Jennifer Byrne "Book Club". It is said that everybody needs a hobby!! mine is collecting books

Latest Review: Audible Book of your Choice by Amazon

Sounds fun. I have purchased many lately through the BOTD program and I try to purchase the books coming up for the BOTM discussions. This is not my normal MO when purchasing books however. My favorite thing to do is go to Goodwill and check out the book shelves. I love to leave with a bag or two of books. Sometimes, I get mostly romance, but I love it when I come across useful textbooks and science related texts. Also - classics are a great find as well. On my last trip I found Hardy's Tess of the d'Urbervilles and Dumas' Count of Monte Cristo.

I generally purchase my books from Amazon, or Barnes & Noble if I find a better price. Occasionally, I will buy from Abe books, but not often.

Anyway, I recently bought 2 books online. The two books are "The House at Riverton" by Kate Morton, and "Room" by Emma Donoghue.

So far this month I have purchased The Assassin's Blade by Sarah. J. Maas, a set of Novellas to her previous series, Gone Girl and probably several on my Kindle Unlimited that I get through Amazon because I read so many books it pays off for me. There are books I don't mind getting as ebooks, but my favourite authors will always be paperback and they fill my shelves nicely.

I haven't purchased my newest book yet, but it's on my radar for the start of May. And that book is "Driving Miss Norma", by Tim Bauerschmidt and Ramie Liddle. I just found it today and after reading the description, I knew I had to get it.

That's such a great way to find new things to read! I'm always intimidated by bookstores.
I just ordered a series from my childhood from Amazon - The Enchanted Forest Chronicles. They're hilarious and I've been craving re-reading them for a while :)

I bought The Handmid's Tale last month. It's a pleasant, but weird read.
