The mixed feelings you have for both the captor and the protagonist is captivating. The ending is heart wrenching!

That is one of my favorite books because it really opened my eyes to a different society. I made both of my kids read it when they were in high school.chibecan wrote:No.
But the one that made me almost cry is "Things fall apart"by China Achebe. The way I was made spellbound by the disintegration of the people's way of life on the eve of western colonization of Africa

The Last Time We say Goodbye by Cynthia Hand. Cynthia Hand depicts grief so perfectly that you can't read her books without the grief consuming you which was pretty evident from the book Hallowed from her Unearthly series. But this book though took a very realistic point of grief and how that just love can't magically chase your problems away and the toll a person's loss takes on their loved ones and it is we who have to take action to get through it & how forgiving ourselves is one of the hardest things we will learn to do. Its a very beautiful book and i think everyone will benefit from reading it.
Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen made me cry. It ends with us by Colleen Hoover sure did. And so did Memoirs of a Geisha.
Other books which got me really close to crying were Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge, It's kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini, Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, Matilda by Roald Dahl, P.S. I love you by Cecilia Ahern and If you could see me now by the same author. Story of My life by Cecilia Ahern and The Girl on the train by Paula Hawkins did affect me but they didn't bring me to tears.
Next come my fandoms. The Infernal Devices especially the epilogue of Clockwork Princess gets me bawling my eyes out at the mere mention of his name, Will Herondale. I have already started tearing up.
The Scorch Trials and The Death Cure by James Dashner from the TMR series made me cry. And when it comes to The Hunger Games, all 3 books affect me so much that i still have nightmares and yes all of them made me cry. And which of us can say we didn't cry when Dobby or Hedwig died? So Harry Potter naturally becomes a series which ripped me apart simultaneously being the best thing that happened in my life.
