I recently read a short story by Joe Hill called 'Pop Art', it is a rather transcendent piece and not something I would usually expect in a collection of short stories. This story is not your usual horror story but the situation that evolves (providing you suspend any disbelief) is where the horror originates. Horror from having an awful family background and of the isolation and loneliness of a young boy. When I began to read the story I initially thought it might even be tongue in cheek funny but by the end I was so touched that I found I had tears rolling down my cheeks.
I would recommend to anyone who has some free time in their lunch break (just bring tissues).

The book Jubilee by Margaret Walker Alexander and The Color Purple by Alice Walker makes me cry. Roots The Saga by Axles Galley makes me cry. The book The Temptations by Otis Williams makes me emotional.

I don't really cry at books the only time that I was ever really sad (I didn't cry I was just super sad) was in The Fellowship of the Ring from the Lord of the Rings series. If you've read that book then you'll probably know which part made me so sad and if you haven't then I'm not going to spoil the book for you.

I mean...I can't think of any? Which is weird, because I love reading, and I'm a sensitive guy. I cried reading books when I was younger, I guess. I don't know.

I cried quite a bit in A Child Called It. So incredibly sad that anyone could do that to a child.
Life without a good book is something MrsCatInTheHat cannot imagine.

I have only ever cried in 3 books out of the hundreds that I have read. Some people say that I can be very apathetic at times, but I feel as if I can show more emotions outside of my reading than whilst when I read I'm like a blank book. I don't know how it works but I'm just like that.

Other than my math book, The Book Thief is the book that has made me cry a lot, but I can't recall any more...

That's funny (and so true!) I'm not usually a crier when it comes to books or movies, but I was a weepy mess after reading Marley & Me by John Grogan. I also almost cried when I finished Everything Beautiful Is Not Ruined by Danielle Younge-Ullman.

The first book that came to mind right away that made me cry was My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult. It wasn't really the whole book that made me cry but just the part where the girl got in a fatal accident and it was her father who pulled her out.

But I really get into my reading and most of the time I end up feeling whatever the characters are feeling so I can get really emotional with whatever I'm reading.

I have never actually full-out cried at a book, but I have come close a couple times. The first one was Winter by Marissa Meyer. She had me on the verge of sobbing. The second one was The Girl in the Blue Coat by Monica Hesse. When I finished this book, I shed a few tears. It's such a sweet and sad story. Go read it. Twice.

Arsen: A Broken Love Story by Mia Asher made me cry. Like, I still get upset thinking about that book. I absolutely love it!

There are so many titles from this thread that I am adding to my list of books to read! Here are two that definitely had be sobbing:

-Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred D. Taylor
-And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini

I know there are more titles, but they're just not coming to mind. Happy Reading!
