I am reading Pretties, the sequel to Uglies. Both are excellent reads!

Contemplating 84 Charing Cross Road. Has anyone read it. Is it worth the time?

It's "Mein Kampf" by Hitler. Are you surprised? If not now you are sure to be surprised: I see the book one of the greatest books I have ever read. Really.

Fear and Loathing... was just a little bit too crazy for me!
The Winterson memoir got a bad rap on a local book review show - apparently it's a fairly dishonest mix of truth and fiction.

You should really enjoy The Great Gatsby.

@Carla
We have an entire topic on 84 Charing Cross Road .... you'll find it under the Reviews of Specific Book forum.
I would highly recommend 84 & it's only a short little book so you'll have it read in a day. Enjoy :)

Thompson did a series of Fear and Loathing. The most well known:In Las Vegas, In America, and On The Campaign Trail.
I wish he was still with us...I can't imagine the Fear and Loathing book that would have emerged from this year's Presidential Election. Can almost hear him saying "I predict...bad craziness..." ~laughing~ HST and Gonzo Journalism is kind of an aquired taste. I love it.

Currently I am reading:

Ian Frazier - On The Rez - Very good book looking at Native Americans in South Dakota.
David Schwartz - The Magic of Thinking Big - Good inspirational, self-improvement book.

The Warden by Anthony Trollope. A classic. I am trying to analyse his writing style. If only I can work out how he wrote so well, perhaps I could do the same sort of thing.

Some people find Rand's writings a bit pretentious, but I really enjoyed both Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead. You don't have to agree completely with Rand's philosophies to enjoy her writings.
