The Sacrifice by Joyce Carol Oates. It is about a fourteen-year-old girl alleged to be involved in a horrible act of violence. Very intriguing..

As an English teacher I am always reading at least 5 books at once. Some think that this can get confusing, but I try to pick books from different genres so that is not an issue. I am currently reading To The Lighthouse ~Virginia Woolf, which has been on my to read list for far too long. It is amazingly written and so poetic. I am in the second section right now and it caught me off guard. I am also reading The Amber SpyGlass: His Dark Materials Books 3 by Philip Pullman, which has a lot of the same adventure feel that the other two books have, but is introducing a lot of new characters. This is a series that my husband insisted that I read and it has been worth it.

Also on the currently reading list are:
A Prayer For Owen Meany ~John Irving (For my own writing inspiration)
I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings ~ Maya Angelou (This is one of the options the students have for their next Lit Circle)
AND
Will Grayson, Will Grayson by David Levithan and John Green which is very humorous so far and is my young adult pick for this month.

I am actually re-reading a book right now. It is The Deal (Off-Campus Book 1) by Elle Kennedy the story is about a sophomore hockey jock and a singer in the music program at Briar University where the school revolves around hockey. Ironically the female starts out being into a football jock, which creates a nice dynamic in the story and neither of the jocks are actually dumb, plus there are a lot of deeper issues at work in the story, I love it and can't wait until Kennedy publishes the next one in the series. Until then I guess I will just keep rereading this one.

For about the 4th time I'm reading the wonderful Kingdom Keepers series by Ridley Pearson. He has such a lovely, light touch - all of his characters speak in very different voices and are very 'human' ... probably re-started them because mum got the rest of the series for me last year (sad that it's finished now) and also because I'm FINALLY going back to Disney in 8 weeks and 5 days! Something tell you I'm excited?! I SO need this holiday! When I read these books (until the last two) I feel I've been transported back into my all time favourite place because I can (99% of the time) really SEE where the characters are and what they're seeing.

I'm also reading the Roy Grace book series, Dead Man Walking by Peter James ... I read one during the day and one at night - the ones at night are always light (like the Kingdom Keepers) because I tend to dream about things if they are disturbing - I want to dream about happy things! Sadly I have NO more books on my Kobo because my old one is broken and my new one I can't download any books! Generally speaking, it's safe to say that I have 3 books on the go at any one time! I use the Kobo for when I'm going out and don't want to carry a heavy book ... last one I read on that was the Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes - pretty good but not what I expected ... it was kind of a summary of some of the stories. Now I'm desperate to get a few books on my kobo before I fly ...
