The first book I bought on my own was Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. I had my first high school job and we still had a Barnes and Nobles in town. I ended up buying the entire series, one book at a time each paycheck.

When I was 7 I coveted the copy of The Children's Collection of Poetry at the bookstore and every time my family went there I would check to make sure it was still there. I finally saved up enough money to buy it and to this day, it still sits on my shelf looking as beautiful as ever.

The first book I ever bought was a picture book called The Legend of Holly Claus when I was seven or eight. I was so proud of myself because I bought it myself with birthday money. Of course said birthday money had only been burning a whole in my pocket for barely a week, so it didn't show much restraint on my part, but it was worth it. It was a good book and honestly, it still is one of my favorites to read around the winter holidays.

Back when I was in elementary school we would get a catalog of books we could buy for 50 to 75 cents/each. My first purchase was A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle.

The first book I bought was Never Do Anything, Ever which is the 4th book in the Dear Dumb Diary series by Jim Benton. I bought it at a book fair in Elementary school and I still have it. :)

It was paperback a copy of Flowers In The Attic, by V.C. Andrews, bought when I was a teenager with one of my first paychecks.

I was about 11 and I think it was The Swiss Family Robinson by Johann Wyss. I still have it.

The first book I remember buying myself was The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle by Avi. I loved the strong female character and the adventure she must go through to survive!

The first book I ever bought had to have been one of the Junie B Jones books. We had book orders when I was in Kindergarton, and I used to buy one every single month.

It was something for Agatha Christie. I'm not sure which one it was because I used to buy everything I can find for her.
