Ever get addicted to a drink because you read it in a book?

Post by kayla1080 »

A few years ago I read Lunar Park by Bret Easton Ellis and then became addicted to Greyhounds (vodka and grapefruit juice). Now that I just finished Wild by Cheryl Strayed, every time a hot day comes up and I've exercised a bunch, I run to the store for a Snapple Peach Iced Tea. Does anyone else have this problem? :)

That's funny! I haven't had this problem, although I get a yen for hot tea when the characters are drinking it in a book I'm reading. I go ga ga over British books where the characters are always putting up a pot of tea.

LOL. Sometimes if I am reading when I am hungry and there is a description of a delicious meal, I will have to pause and go and get myself something to eat. :)

@bookowlie I do the exact same thing! I have recenty become obsessed with tea. Especially black tea because of the British books I have been reading. It makes me wonder what I proper cuppa taste like. ;)

I would have to say no to the original question.... but I have often wondered if I am just really strange when I read about drinks in books. See, where I come from, no one EVER drinks hot tea. I don't think it even exists, honestly. So whenver I read about people boiling water to make a cup of hot tea (take your pick of the type), it seems like such a foreign concept to me.

HA HA! Well, the series was filled with interesting and unique beverages. You have to give it that.

Well, the jelly beans have already come to life, so I'm sure the butterbeer and firewhiskey are out there somewhere as well. Maybe at the Universal Studios Harry Potter land or wherever.

Are you kidding? That's how we all got our start here! Hahaha

Wait, I dont' even know what I am talking about. I also don't feel like correcting that misplaced apostrophe.

Hahaha, it's okay to misplace an apostrophe if you admit to it! It makes me feel better for not reading Harry Potter. :)
