No not usually. Sometimes when I'm at the library and I smell a really old book I start to cough and choke. But some books are ok to sniff I guess...

I love the old book smell, but it isn't something that I've done in years. When I read what the discussion board asked, I had to reread the topic because I never realized how into book smells some people are. lol

Yes, I love the smell of books, especially nice fat ones. I am currently reading The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton, which is a hefty tome, and I regularly take a good long sniff of it. Not something I can do with any satisfaction with my kindle! :D

I have never felt like I truly belong anywhere until just now... I am SOO a book sniffer!!!! That sounds horrible, like all of you say, but I do it alllll the time. I really thought I was the only one who did that and I'm so relieved to discover I'm not. I do it with magazines too, I can't help it.

But I totally agree with all of you on this. It's so nice to know I'm not alone :)

Ah man! This is good to know, I'm not the only book sniffer out there! Well, I didn't know you could tell books apart but every time I get a new book I just have to fan the pages under my nose and take a good whiff of it! Its just splendid. Old books smell even better, the old musty smell of dancing words on the pages ready to be read once again. They should make book perfume. Does anyone agree with me about that? Ha ha.

A book sniffer? Absolutely. Just a whiff from a quick fanning of the pages of a book while I'm rearranging by bookshelves, and the scent takes me right back to the place I was when I read the book, heart and soul wise. :)

As much as i appreciate the convenience of ebooks nothing compares to having the real thing in your hands. I love the smell of books, especially older ones.

I love the smell of books. When I was in school I would skip classes so I could go hang out at the city library. A beautiful library filled with books. Probably why Kindle has no appeal to me.

I do love the smell of old books, but I gotta say I am more tactile and if I wasn't a broke college student, I would never buy an eBook again, sorry Amazon. I love the way the feel, the different papers, and covers, the weight in my hand. Something about that tactile experience just gets to me in a huge way, and I can't help myself, I love it.

I am not myself a book sniffer. However, every book I sit down on the couch and read must be inspected and sniffed thoroughly by my dog.
