Mine is easily The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle By: Haruki Murakami.

OOOH That's my favorite Murakami book too! Hard-Boiled Wonderland and The End Of The World is also one of my favorites. I'd also throw in No. 6 by Atsuko Asano, but it's more well-known as a manga.Ty0005 wrote:Is there any books that you've read that you particularly like from foreign soil?

So, as for me, so the Girl with a Dragon Tattoo books count? I thought those were pretty good, minus all of the Swedish politics stuff.

I loved Girl with a Dragon Tattoo books as well.ALynnPowers wrote:Murakami is like an idol in Japan! Everyone knows him. I've only read one thing of his, but everything he writes has a Japanese movie to go along with it, and I'm sure I've seen some at some point and didn't know it was based on his story. I heard he actually translates his own books from Japanese to English so that they keep the meaning he wants for the story and nothing gets "lost" in translation. Apparently he's a really fluent English speaker.
