Thankfully though, I don't have many friends that have read it. The one friend who suggested I read it can't understand why I don't find it funny. She claims the grandma is hilarious. I can't get past the other characters to enjoy the grandma, unfortunately. :s

Now I understand 400 million copies sold worldwide is an indicator that this is not a popular opinion. And I don't condemn anyone who loves the series.
I just don't.
Perhaps if I was younger when I first read it, I may have enjoyed Rowling's work, however when I did read it I found it far too long-winded. It's not that there were an excess of pages but just the whole story-line seemed to drag on.
Let's just say when I read the words 'Put-Outer' used literally for a put-outer...
I would've thought J.K Rowling could come up with a more creative alternative.
But anyway that is my personal opinion of Harry Potter, a popular book that I ended up hating.

It is nice to know I'm not the only one! I did enjoy it, but not as much as I had hoped. Some of the characters felt flat to me. When I bought my copy I thought I would finish it in a night since it "couldn't be put down", but in reality it took me about a week. It was heartfelt, just didn't keep my attention.midgetgem wrote:When I was recommended 'The Fault in our Stars' I had great expectations for it as I'd not heard a single negative review about it. However, I failed to see the 'craze' about it! I thought it was a really nice book and I did enjoy it, but I didn't feel that I couldn't put it down and I was blown away by it. Does anybody else feel this way about it? (please don't hate more for saying this!)
