Re: Library or owning?

Post by Annelore Trujillo »

I got to the library a lot. I don't really have the money to spend on books, so I borrow them. It doesn't really matter to me if I won them or not. I sometimes feel like it's a waste to own them. I don't usually reread my books. So I end up paying to read the book one time.

I love libraries, but for me it depends on how often I think I will re-read a book. If I know that it is something that I am going to be reading for years to come (such as the Harry Potter series), then I definitely want to purchase it. If it's a book that I am interested in reading because I read a review or it just sounds fun, then I will go to the library. Unless it is a new release that I really want to read- then I usually buy it rather than wait for them to have it in the library.

I love the library but I am all about owning the book if I read it I want to own it. So I end up turning around and buying it anyway.

I'd prefer to own my books. It's sort of like a collection, I like to have them all here when I want them. Plus, there have been times I went to the library and the book I wanted was already checked out. :(

Classics or books that I'm likely to read more than once are ones I'd prefer to own. I also like to have keep a decent collection for my family to have access to as well. Quick beach reads, no thanks, don't need the clutter.
Life without a good book is something MrsCatInTheHat cannot imagine.

I love libraries especially on line services. I usually don't read books again and have limited storage space so being able to borrow a book for free is wonderful.

I always like to own books so I can reread them whenever and there's just the appeal of having it all for yourself. On the other hand, I can certainly see the appeal of borrowing books because you can read a plethora of books at no cost.

I actually prefer library books because I love that I can read as many books as I want for free! I also move around a lot, so it makes for lighter packing to not own a ton of books.

In the past, I always bought books - either new or secondhand. However, once my son got old enough for Storytime at the library, being there every week has made it convenient to become a borrower. I don't buy too many for myself anymore.

Owning my own is best for me. There aren't enough good libraries near my house to not have to buy them. I wish there were, because buying books can get expensive.

The library is essential for me...I just can't afford to support my reading habit by buying books! Generally, I only buy books that I truly LOVE and know I will read again, or have some special meaning...especially since I'm trying to downsize the "stuff" in my life.

What? Not having the books around after reading them? Not my type!!

I have to own them! I may borrow some, cause I don't have a money making tree, but I always prefer to own the books. How else can you reread a book you like?

Owning is preferred. But, when you run out of space for the keepers, to the library to borrow we go!
