Winter's Tale, Mark Helprin, hands down. I even got an autographed copy for my birthday once (he sells them on his website)!
Close 2nd - House of the Spirits, Isabel Allende
Runner ups: Kite Runner, The Book Thief

Probably Ulysses. Although I've read it multiple times, every time I open it, I discover something new.

I love reading inspirational books and one of the best books I ever read was "the purpose of driven life" other books may seem to be nice or great indeed, but the book I mentioned left a mark on my mind and my heart.~

Although everyone might not enjoy reading 1984, it is one of the most relevant books in this day and age, and more people relate to it every day than they realize, and it also brought to light the notion of a higher power constantly watching over the people.

I will cast my vote on "Lord of the flies" But there are other books almost as good as it, so really hard to tell my favorite.

My favorite book is The Prince of Tides. I think Pat Conroy is one of the greatest American authors ever!
