Only in books I don't like, haha! For instance, I am reading a book of poems for my English class, but we are only reading 17 out of the 171 poems, so I dogeared the pages we will be looking at
So many books to read, so little time..

I did when I was younger, and then I found that the book stayed looking much nicer for a lot longer if I didn't. I didn't know it weakened the pages until a couple months ago. I did all kinds of things to my books when I was younger that I see as Book Abuse now!

I used to but I always try and get a bookmark, I only ever do it if I have no other way of marking the page or producing a bookmark out of anything I have around !

I had never even considered that an option! I have always had an uncanny knack for remembering page numbers, so that helps....

No I have never done this. Its bad for the books. Some of my friends do it and it irritates me when they do. These are the friends I refuse to lend books to.

Every time I see someone dogearing a book, I just want to run up to them and yell, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! YOU'RE HURTING THE BOOK!!!" I never have, and never will dog-ear a book because it makes me feel as if I'm "hurting" the book. Weird, right? I think that bookmarks are way prettier and they come in all different styles so that you can personalize! Yes, please!

I don't like to dog ear pages. I've gotten very creative with bookmarks, just to avoid creasing the pages of a book I'm reading.

This answer will make me out to be a terrible person, but if the book is borrowed from a friend or anybody else, i will look after it and so will use a bookmark. If it's a second hand book (they are ever so much cheaper) or a library book, I will bend the corner. If it's a prstine book, then i'll use a bookmark. BUT i feel so uncomfortable using one, sure it keeps the book neat but books are MEANT to be dogeared. Well, in my opinion anyway. I'm reading a 'new 'book and im going through an internal conflict. Should I baby it, or should i read it well? (Crack the spine open, fold the corners...). I NEVER write in books though - pure vandalism.

I try not to but I actually do it a lot. I don't do it in library books or books that I've borrowed, only in the ones that I own. I know that you're not supposed to but I've done it as long as I can remember and if you look at my bookshelf it's obvious which ones are the most loved. I totally agree with the person before me. My most loved books are the ones with the creases and stains and worn spines. I don't understand why people judge those of us who dogear but they don't mind writing in books, with PEN. I would die if I thought someone got near one of my books with a pen, unless it was a gift with their message inside or "if lost return to" information. And of course if I was lucky enough to get an autograph from the author but those are the ONLY exceptions!

I do not dogear pages. I like to keep my books as fresh as possible so they feel like new when I re-read them. I also borrow a lot of books from the library and I hate seeing the tell tale mark of someone else disrespecting the pages. I sometimes wish the use of ribbons sewn into book bindings used as bookmarks was still in practice. I will use anything as a book mark but I save the return envelope from bills (paid online) and use them as book marks or for notes.

I do like to annotate my books but I have fallen out of practice due to the bulk of my books coming from the library.

Never! I will use pretty much anything as a book marker before I would dogear pages.
