If the book is good I can't stop till I know how it ends!

When it's a trilogy I cant wait to get to the end and see whats going to happen next. In the Hunger Games I couldnt wait for someone to bring me the second and third book so I ploughed through both on my laptop. With Tess of the D'urbavilles I savored every word. The english is like nothing people use in writing today. I fell in love with the characters and I was hoping for a classic "happily ever after". You can imagine my shock and disappointment at the sudden ending. I just sat there taking in what just happened and read the last few lines over again just to be sure.

I actually have a terrible problem about "savoring" books a little too much. If I really like a book I sometimes won't finish the last 10+ pages in a sad attempt of it never having to end. I do this with tv shows too, I probably have a dozen tv series I just stopped watching because I'd be sad when it's over.

When I like a book, I usually start reading it really fast, but then near the end I slow down so it doesn't end right away :)

This is a real dilemma - if it's a really good book I get completely engrossed and can't read it slowly even if I want to. Often I go back after I've got to the end and reread sections that need more consideration. I had to read The Great Gatsby the whole way through after I finished it the first time - I'd read it so quick I knew I'd missed a lot.

Samuel Pepys - he wrote his diary over the span of 10 years, and I enjoyed reading it over the course of a number of years. I think that reading his diary at the pace he wrote it really added something special, and I relished every word, every thought, as he went through a decade of his life, noting daily events in what turned out to be a tumultuous time in history. I am sorry he did not write more.

If the book is really good then I feel I'm over-aware that every page is taking me closer to the end of something special and I'll try to remember to savor it. That never works though and I'm always at the end way too soon. Then I'm immediately jealous of my boyfriend or other friends that I recommend the book to because they still have the entire story in front of them. :)

I totally agree with this.Once I start I cannot put the book down no matter what.If I do then I keep on thinking about the book the whole time and can't concentrate. That's why I have learned to plan my reading time for a block of three or fours hours straight and not read it in like school, or waiting time because then I have to pause and that's impossible for me.

Definitely not one to savor a book! I would finish it because I wouldn't be able to read slowly enough, just wanting to find out what happens next.

Finish. If it's a good book, it stays with you forever anyway.

I finish the book as quickly as I can because my curiosity must be sated. I only read books slowly if they are extremely boring.
