I am rereading The Satanic Verses by Rusdie after a 22 year hiatus right now. Much more interesting than the first time around. I considered myself a good reader back in those days, but apparently not. Maturity does a lot for one's ability to understand what a writer is doing.

I have seven floor to ceiling bookcases filled. There has to be over 1,000 books in my library, and three full file boxes full of soft cover sc-fi books at my mom's house.

I need to have a garage sale at least for the doubles and earlier editions.

You should make it a public library

He does a lot for the school. He just gave them a bunch of desks and about 50 computers he got out of the dump in Utah. He got about 200 of them and went through them fixed some with parts from others and ended up with 50 good ones. He told me something I didnt know. Mexico and Brazil are the only countries in the world that has a computer for every school kid.

Couldn't for sure exactly how many as I haven't counted them in years. All I know is I don't have a single room with books in them!

ahum, well, I've worked here at bookdepot/bookcloseouts for 14 years ~ the best place to shop for bargain books. With 2 kids and myself self-diagnosed as a book addict, I would have to say in the 1,000's

Now mind you some are in boxes that haven't been looked at yet, but yes I know I have A LOT!!

I have somewhere in the neighborhood of about 150 with about 30 being childrens books for my daughter. I don't like rereading things, it just doesn't have the same shock the 2nd time around. So my books get put in a box in the top of my closet.

Dream...

Post Number:#164  Postby Holden_Caulfield » 14 Oct 2011, 14:50

It is my dream to own as many books as one can have in his lifetime, and fill my whole house - another dream - with stacks and stacks of books everywhere, arranged neatly, making my whole house more like a library than anything else. As for now, something a little over a hundred, which includes my book, my sister's book, the books I have taken from people and never got around to returning it... : )
