I'm sure actors and various people play a part in the image that forms in my head.
Now if I saw the movie before reading the book I do tend to use those actors as the picture in my head.

Now, if Ive read the book, THEN seen the movie, sometimes I will analyze the heck out of it in my head. (they skipped a part, wait that didnt happen like that ect). If there is a movie and a book version, I try to do both. 9 times out of 10, the book is better. Not always, but usually. You can put so much more detail into a book
I feel the same way about this.. I almost always read the book before the movie then sit through the whole movie saying "that didn't happen in the book" Lol. And the book is always better..

If the book isn't made into a movie, or I haven't seen any of the actors, I picture whatever the book brings to thought!

Oh and if it's a book I still picture actors in my mind too but they're not always clear. Sometimes even the main character's face changes.

as Paulo Coelho says
'The book is a film that takes place in the mind of the reader. That's why we go to movies and say, Oh, the book is better.'
