Reading before sleeping

Post by Avaleinna07 »

Does anyone else have to read something before they fall asleep? I always feel like I sleep so much better if I read a chapter or two of a book before I decide to go to sleep.

I love reading but reading before bed actually keeps me awake because my mind is so preoccupied with the story line and whats going to happen. I usually read very dramatic books maybe that is why I have trouble sleep after reading them lol.

Reading late at night does make me drowsy and it helps me to get a more sound sleep. Although I've never fallen asleep while reading.

Yes, but it's because I want to get back to my story. Reading can be part of my routine that I do right before I go to sleep. I also find that it helps me focus mentally by letting go of whatever happened in the day and losing myself in a book.

I love reading right before sleep! The dedicated quiet time I'm allowed by reading before bed is a necessary stress reliever/releaser.

Occasionally a book will be 'too much' of a page turner and sleep will have to be postponed, though.

yes I love to read to sleep, but never a book that's a page turner for me, I would read the whole book not sleep and be worn out. I work nights and it's easy to get distracted and not sleep.

My favorite time to read is just before falling asleep. It helps me to rest, much better than watching TV or listening to music.

I do this too, but when I read about something disturbing, I end up with a night of disturbed sleep too! Of late, I've started reading soft, soothing stuff, such as inspirational non-fiction so that I sleep easy.

I do the majority of my reading before bed (IN bed). Although a really good book is known to give me insomnia!

Usually. I try to read for about an hour before I hit the hay, it helps my mind to stop spinning!

I too need to unwind for at least 30 mins with a book before sleep. As others have said, it relaxes and gives me a focus so I can fall asleep easily.

If I wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep right away, reading helps me to feel sleepy again.

I love reading before bed, because when I dream, I dream that I am inside the story that I'm reading. The best part is where they turn into lucid dreams!
