Not at all! Just because I don't like something doesn't mean that somebody else won't or shouldn't. Although there are certain genres or authors that I do not enjoy, or do not wish to read myself, I don't judge other people who do like them. My sister and I had this conversation about the Twilight series. When she began the first book, she kept telling me all of the reasons why I wouldn't like it (to which I heartily agreed!), but she loved it herself. I was just happy that she found a series that she enjoyed. I probably was more of a book snob when I was younger and thought that I was reading more "important" novels. But now I realize that this is something that I do for fun, and that people should be able to enjoy their books and read what's entertaining for them.

I don't think I'm a book snob unless I find out a person only reads one type of book. For example, if I find out someone only ever reads erotic fiction, then I'll probably have a hard time not judging. :P
I think everyone should expand their horizons.

I used to be but now I understand that sometimes reading is an escape and I don't want others judging my escapes, so I don't judge so much anymore.
Life without a good book is something MrsCatInTheHat cannot imagine.

I would love to say that I'm not, but I definitely think that I judge someone based on what they read. I don't say that I completely shut them out or hate them for it... but I'm sure the judgement still rests.

Yes, I totally judge people who read highly erotic books. I read romance books but not when it's just sex all through

The only time I act like a snob is if I find out someone doesn't read at all. As long as you like books, you are my kindred spirit and I will never judge your taste in books. Even if it is drastically different than mine.

With fiction, I don't judge. Everyone has different tastes and I don't think it's right for me to pass judgment on that. I'm entertained by weird stuff, too! However, I honestly do judge with nonfiction, such as conspiracy theory books. I try not to, but it can be tough especially since I'm a bit touchy about certain topics that I've personally dealt with in my life.

Sometimes I can be, sadly. I like to read a variety, so it frustrates me when people stick to one genre. I'm okay with people reading Fifty Shades of Grey but the fact that The Handmaid's Tale or The Count of Monte Cristo or Ceremony don't get the same amount of attention bothers me to no end. It's just annoying that subpar books get so much attention when there are so many good books out there.

Yes. Not ashamed of it either. I am set in my ways with what genres I like and the ones I hate and I do judge people based on the books they read. Not in a mean way just like "Oh your into that? Alrighty then." I hope you read that in a pet detective voice.

Nope not at all. As long as people read. Even if it is something like 50 shades of grey, and nothing else. At least that got people reading and exploring the genre. It does bother me a little when people limit themselves to a particular genre, as it means they are missing out.. but that is their issue and not mine.

What I can't stand though is when people won't read something because it's "too cool" or the "in thing". I feel like saying "get over yourself"

I honestly don't think I do, but maybe it's because not a lot of my friends read for fun. Maybe I judge them for that... :geek2:
But in all seriousness, I'm always down to find out what other people are reading. There are so many books - and genres - I haven't experienced yet. Who am I to judge?

I don't consider myself a book snob. I think that any reading is good reading as long as you enjoy what you are reading.
That doesn't mean that I won't try to catch the title of a book if I see someone reading in public. It is interesting to see what people will read where others can see and sometimes it gives me unintentional recommendations.
