My mother do the same. She always read a piece from beggining, then she hops to the end and then read the middle. I don´t do it because I wouldn´t be curious about plot.

Guilty. I hate myself for it though, especially like in the case of Allegiant where I spoiled a character death to myself and nearly threw the book against my bedroom wall. I'm trying to do it less and less but damn it is hard. Shame on me. :(

I've done this a couple times. It's always been when I was reading a book that I was having a really hard time getting into. Usually it's been a book that a friend raved about that I really wanted to enjoy & hoped it would peak my interests the further I got into it.

Unfortunately, I have a bad habit of doing this! Especially in a romance novel when I'm not sure if the couple will actually make it out together. I also have a hard time when reading printed books to not skip sections if I see something interesting on the next page. I literally used to have to cover up the next page so I wouldn't get distracted! Hahaha

I have to admit that there have been maybe two or three books in my lifetime that I have gotten a sneak peak at the ending. One of those books, the ending so ruined the rest of the book for me that I didn't finish it. Since then, I refuse (despite and nagging inclination to glance) to cheat myself from the pleasure of a self reveal.

No! Now that I usually read e-books this isn't such a problem, but I remember in the past it was always a habit of mine to read the very last WORD of the book. Anymore than the last single word would be too much! I want to focus on the story and see where it takes me.

Never! I don't know how I could do that and then go back to the beginning (or wherever I had stopped). I've skipped an occasional book club meeting because I hadn't finished the book and didn't want to know how it ended.
Life without a good book is something MrsCatInTheHat cannot imagine.

Yes!! Especially those books where the twists drive me crazy and I just want to be reassured that it's going to be a happy ending.

Well, I don't think I've ever done that, but I like to know whether the end is going to be a tragic one before I read a novel, especially one by Nicolas Sparks.

I have almost done it a few times but then realised that it doesn't make any sense to me. The mystery of where the book is going is half the fun. Its like peeking on Christmas presents; once you know what is in them, the magic is gone.

You are brave to pose this question. A lot of people have very strong feelings about this. I used to look at the ending all the time. I think that it's because I used to be impatient and I don't particularly like surprises. I've mostly kicked that habit. Every once and a while I'll flip ahead 50 pages or so and read a couple sentences to motivate myself if I'm really bored with a book. If I see that something really exciting is going to happen, it's more likely that I'll keep reading.

I try really hard not to do that, because it risks ruining the reading experience. I definitely would rather read through the book, leading up to the ending, which I think should be a surprise.

Arg, you are crazy!! I used to open the back to see how many pages there was in the book, but I stopped because I kept seeing the last line of the book. Even that was too much!!

Oh I have been so tempted! But no, I have not read the ending. I am always afraid if I do, it wont be what I expect then the whole experience is ruined. :)
