Re: FOR STUDENTS! Do you still read around exam time?

Post by Carr_olyn »

I just finished my sophomore year at college, and I find it extremely difficult to read while I have a lot of school work. Of course I love to read, however I find during the school year I go through periods where I will read a ton of books, and then take a break and so on. I think this is because although reading relaxes me, sometimes I want to spend my down time watching tv or doing other activities.

Haha! I wish I had the time for it but my mind is always revolving around exams so I can't concentrate. I use I could though since reading is always a great stress reliever.

I usually don't read much before exam time because it's just too much reading and my eyes and brain need a break.

When exams used to come around it was like the book was calling me, but then I would have to be a whole lot stealthier because of my parents constantly coaxing me to study :)

I am currently at the end of my masters degree and am doing a sixteen thousand word dissertation. But I have spent more time reading fiction novels rather than the actual textbooks for my course. I am thus very disappointed in myself. But the power of novels is just too much for me. I don't know how I still manage to get excellent grades when I do this but that still doesn't stop me from feeling guilty.

I am a professional procrastinator, as much as I meant to read revision guides, somehow I ended up reading 'The Wolf of Wall Street' .

Unfortunately I usually don't :( When I read, I just end up getting caught up in the book and put off everything else. I have too many papers to write around finals week to be able to do that :(

I try to still continue reading during school and exam times. I find it helps me unwind and gives me a refreshing break from the everyday textbooks. I read leisure books in the morning and at night, and that breaks up the monotony of reading textbooks during the day.

I cannot NOT read, no matter what. I usually get annoyed at my exams for keeping me from reading. :-P

In high school, I always read on Sundays, no matter what. It was my own personal time that I refused to allow anything else to interrupt. But when I was a university student, I was too busy with work and commuting and school to read much of anything at all, regardless of whether it was exam time or not.
Scheduling is key.

I'm not a student anymore but, when I was a student I would still take study breaks a read. It would keep me sane and prevent me from being crazy stressed. There us ALWAYS time to read.

I just graduated, but during college I had almost zero free time, and when I did I was usually doing reading for the next book required. Now that I've graduated I'm trying to catch up on some pleasure reading.

Of course I do!!! Reading is the way I relax and escape for a few hours. It really takes my mind off of the stress and I always feel better after taking a break to read.

Definitely! I can't explain why but I do crave for fiction books during exam time. I find it really ironic of me to prefer reading fiction books than studying my course....
